Corrugating Machine
Corrugation machines are used to manufacture corrugated cardboards, which
are used for corrugated packaging. They are economic, light, robust,
recyclable, and do versatile form of packaging. Corrugating machines are
used for manufacturing corrugated cardboards of various types and usages.
Corrugating machines are vastly used in the filter machine manufacturing.
They allow the filter manufacturers to achieve optimum media performance.
What is Corrugation?
Corrugation is a technique, which is used to apply wave shapes, or ridges
in particular sheets and cardboards. The sheet of material is softened by
steam, then this material is sandwiched between flat sheets of material to
form corrugated fiberboard. These corrugated cardboards are used for
manufacturing boxes or various packaging. After the various layers of the
corrugated cardboard have been glued to each other, the cardboard is sent
through a heated plate heating zone and then through a cooling zone.
Formation of Corrugated Cardboards
The simple cardboard is put into the corrugating machine by looped
corrugating belts. The friction between the cardboard and the outer surface
of the closed loop corrugating belt ensures the fed of the cardboard in the
corrugating machine. All corrugating machines require a high friction
coefficient between the corrugating belts and the cardboard. The different
versions of corrugating machines have different modes of feeding the
cardboard through the heating zones. Some of the modes are described below:
- First type of corrugating machines: Pressing rollers presses
the corrugating belt, on which the cardboard rests, against the heating
plates. It exerts a pressure sufficient enough to ensure the feeding of
the cardboard, in addition to the contact with the heated plates.
- Second type of machines: Instead of pressing rollers, air
cushions are used to press the corrugating belt which feeds the
cardboard in the heating zone.
- Third type of machines: To fed the cardboards, no corrugating
belt is required in the heating zone. The cardboard is inserted through
the heating zone by a pair of belts arranged in the cooling zone.
Use of Corrugating Machines
Corrugating machines are mainly used for corrugating varieties of
materials. They are used for corrugating materials like:
- Papers
- Pipes
- Plastic Extrusions
- Cardboards
Industries
They are used in different types of industries, like
- Filter Machine Industry
- Agriculture Industry
- Automotive Industry
- Construction Industry
Paper Corrugating Machine: The paper corrugating machine is
used to corrugate papers. Various types and qualities of papers for
different purposes are corrugated with the help of this machine. The machine
is highly efficient in production and easy in maintenance. The machine has
minutely finished flute rolls, which are fixed on roller bearings. The flute
roll is set from one side only. A motor is used to keep the gum rolls
rotating for agitation of the gum, and the gum unit is disengaged from the
flute rolls. A steam shower is used to provide the perfect formation of the
flutes. The paper corrugating machine is available in four different models.
- Single Face: One medium is glued to one flat sheet of
liner-board.
- Single Wall: It is also known as Double Face. The medium is
between two sheets of liner-board.
- Double Wall: Three sheets of liner-board with two mediums in
between.
- Triple Wall: Four sheets of liner-board with three mediums in
between.
