Filter Test Rig
Testing rigs are filter testing equipment that are specially designed to
carry out filter testing for the rate of flow against -
- Pressure drop characteristics
- Filtering efficiency
- Life characteristics
Variety of filter test rigs are available in the market that can be
used for the testing of air, oil and fuel filters. The equipment allows the
testing of filters under three different modes, which include
- Draw-through (negative pressure)
- Blow-through (positive pressure)
- Re-circulating
These modes are achieved through different configuration of a set of
adjustable air dampers that control the path of the flow. The filter testing
rigs can be tailor made by manufacturers as per their unique and specific
requirements.

- Inlet and Outlet HEPA Filters
Types of Filter Test Rigs
There are three types of filter test rigs:
- Oil Filter Test Rigs: These filter test rigs are used to test
lubricate oil filters with the use of either test dust or AC fine test
dust and determine the filtering efficiency of the elements to find out
the differential pressure drop at various flow rates. These tests have
found to be useful in determining the existing life of the filter
element of single as well as double life. These filters have found to be
highly useful for testing the spin-on oil filter for compression
ignition engines and deliver life test, flow and Pressure rate and
filtering efficiency.
- Air Filter Test Rigs: Air filter test rigs are designed and
developed to carry out filter tests to determine the flow rate against
pressure drop These test rigs are designed for carrying out filter
testing for flow rate against pressure drop features, life features and
the filtering efficiency. The air filter test rigs have found
applications in automobiles and gas turbines.
- Fuel Filter Test Rigs: The fuel filter test rigs are designed
and manufactured to test diesel engine fuel filters for compression
ignition engines. The fuel filter test rigs can be used to determine
life test, flow, pressure rate and filtering efficiency. A variety of
valves are provided for controlling at various stages that can be seen
in a fitted manometer.
