Glossary

Activated Carbon
A general term used for carbon, which covers carbon material mostly derived from charcoal. It has exceptionally high surface area. It is also called activated charcoal or activated coal.

Adsorption
Adsorption is a process in which the molecules of a gas are accumulated to form a thin film on the surface of a solid.

Ceramic
Ceramic is the term covering inorganic non-metallic materials which is formed due to the action of heat.

Chemisorption
A type of adsorption where a molecule adheres to a surface through the formation of a chemical bond.

Clipping Machine
Clipping machines are used to handle various sealing and clipping processes. They are used to pack all types of thick and pasty materials, such as adhesives, sealant, and explosives.

Contaminants
The contaminants are substances that have adverse effects on air, water, soil.

Corrugation
Corrugation is the technique of shaping sheets, cardboards, etc into parallel ridges and grooves. The material sheets are softened by steam, then sandwiched between flat sheets to form corrugated fiberboard, cardboard, etc.

Disinfectants
They are antimicrobial agents used to apply on non-living objects to kill microorganisms.

Distillation
Distillation is the process of separating two or more liquids by boiling the mixture, capturing the vapors and colling it.

Electrostatic Filters
These filters work on the principle of electrostatics. They employ an electric field to trap the particles. They can be installed in the central filtration systems as well as a separate unit.

Giardia
An organism that inhabits the digestive tract of domestic and wild animals, including humans. It is a common cause of gastroenteritis in humans.

Germicides
Any agent (like heat or radiation) or substance (like any chemical) that kills microorganisms that might carry diseases.

HEPA
HEPA stands for "high efficiency particulate air filter". They are highest efficiency air filters available for filtration of small particles.

Hot Melt
Hot melts are solid adhesives, which are used for binding and seaming, requiring heat for application. They are made from plastics and thermoplastic polymers.

Hot Melt Applicators
Hot melt applicators are machines used for the application of hot melt adhesives and thermoplastic materials. They are provided with built-in microprocessor-based system.

HVAC
HVAC stands for "Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning". These systems are used in medium to large industrial and official buildings to maintain and regulate the temperature and ventilation.

Hybrid Filters
A type of filter, which incorporate two or more filter control technologies.

Ionization
The process of separating an atom or a molecule into ions by changing the number of electrons and protons.

Leakage Testing Machine
A testing equipment that is used to test and measure the escape of liquids or gases from sealed components or systems, like filters, valves, radiators, taps, pipe and fittings.

Osmosis
Osmosis is the diffusion of molecules across a semipermeable membrane from a region of higher concentration to region of lower concentration until the concentrations on both sides become same.

Ozone
Ozone is an allotrope of oxygen, consisting of three atoms of oxygen, and is less stable than th diatomic oxygen.

Ozone Air Purifiers
A type of air filter, which generates ozone and kills the microbes present in the air and making them appropriate for breathing.

Paper Corrugating Machine
The machine used to corrugate paper is known as paper corrugating machine. It is used to corrugate various types and qualities of papers for different purposes. It is very efficient in production and easy in maintenance.

Perforation
Perforation is the technique of punching a series of holes in any material, specially papers, for ease of separation.

Perforating Machine
A machine used for making holes into varieties of materials, such as papers, filter papers, steel sheets, etc. It takes papers or other materials and punch small holes in a straight line thus making them easier to tear out.

Physisorption
Also known as physical adsorption, it is a type of adsorption in which the adsorbate adheres to the surface only through weak intermolecular interactions ( Van-der Waals force).

Planetary Mixer
Planetary mixer is a machine used for homogeneous and uniform mixing of materials of distinct density, shapes, viscosity, and proportions. It is mainly used for mixing hot melts, ointments, pastes, etc.

Pleating
Pleating is a mechanical process, which is used to create special kinds of patterns on materials, like fabrics, meshes, sheets, etc. The different types of patterns are created using heat, pressure and tension. The fabric is folded upon itself into an accordion-like configuration. It is followed by placing the fabric in a heated chamber to permanently set the shapes.

Pleats
Pleats are a type of fold, which is created by folding the fabric upon itself and then pressing or stitching into desired shapes. It is generally used in clothing, upholstery, and filter industry to collect a large piece of fabric to a narrower circumference. Pleat was earlier known as plait.

Reverse Osmosis
A separation process, in which pressure is used to force a solvent through a membrane that holds the solute on one side and allows the pure solvent to pass to the other side.

Seaming Machine
A machine that mechanically attach two distinct components of same material in an authentic and hermetic manner, ensuring air, liquid and bacteria tight seaming to prevent any type of leakage and spoilage.

Slitter Rewinder
A machine used for slitting varieties of materials, like papers, plastics, metal sheets, etc.

Slitting
Slitting is process used for cutting different types of sheet materials into narrower strips to fulfill the diverse needs.

Turbidity
It is a measure of the degree to which the water looses it's transparency due to the presence of suspended particulates.

Ultraviolet Light
An electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength smaller than that of visible light, but larger than X-rays. It is not visible to human eyes.

Water Filtration
Water filtration is a method used to remove the harmful contaminants and purify the drinking and cooking water.

Zeolites
Zeolites are minerals that have micro-porous structure.
